Senator Tony Hwang (R-28) hosted a press conference the morning of January 24 in the Legislative Office Building in Hartford to introduce the newly formed “Coalition to Oppose Casino Expansion in Connecticut” to the public.
Retired Congressman Bob Steele, and Michele Mudrick, Legislative Advocate for the United Church of Christ, led the press conference. Twelve religious and non-profit organizations have now joined the Coalition, and a number of individuals from those organizations spoke in opposition to plans to build a third casino north of Hartford.
